1 Mile / 6 Mile / 16 Mile / 50K Trail Run

Saturday, March 18th, 2023
This is the Wyoming trail run of trail runs. You may have your tags, you may do your glassing, but will you run this course? I dare you…

This isn’t about the stalk, this is about the speed – stalk ’em, then pass ’em!

Since this is The Hunt, you are encouraged to wear hunter orange of some sort and the best hunter’s outfit gets a sweet prize!  For 2023, we moved the race up to March 18th to avoid nesting issues we ran into last year.  This earlier race date allows us to utilize the multiple slick rock sections multiple times for both the 16 miler and 50K.  This earlier race date will also probably require a warmer dressing technique – come prepared!!

There will be 1 aid station for the 6-Miler, 3 aid stations for the 16-Miler, and 7 aid stations for the 50K, all spaced fairly evenly throughout the courses. Aid stations will have water, electrolyte drink, and some light snacks. All aid stations will be CUPLESS. This means you are responsible for carrying your own cup, bottle or hydration pack. If you are doing the 6 or 16-mile races, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND carrying at least a water bottle and dressing in layers. If you’re doing the 50K, you are required to carry at least a bottle, but I recommend carrying multiple bottles or a hydration pack, and some light calories. The 16 miler will take you anywhere from 1-4+ hours and the 50K could take you up to 10 hours in potentially cold, and snowy weather conditions, or it could be, rainy, and/or mild and dry. Come prepared for all types of wonderful Wyoming weather.

Like every good run, there will be free beer, soda, and food at the finish.

This year, we will be hosting packet pick-up on Friday evening from 5-7pm at the Cody Archery Club on the Greybull Highway.

What You'll Get:

  • Sweet views & some hardcore trails
  • Custom Hunt Hoodies (50K, 16M, 6M), Custom Hunt Camo Shirts (1 Mile)
  • Age Group Awards 3 deep
  • Prize for the most stealth hunter attire
  • Free Beer and After Party
  • Bragging rights
  • What more do you need?

It might be snowy and frigid, or it could be mild and dry….there may be rattlers, or there may be bears. Dress in layers, bring your bear spray, keep alert, and bring a warm/dry change of clothes for the afterparty!

We recommend running with bear spray and your phone. There will be volunteers stashed throughout the course to ensure safety and help make sure you’re on or near the course. All courses will be marked with colored flagging. Be aware, these trail races will take longer than your road times. Out of respect for our volunteers’ time, we will only allow walkers/hikers on the 1 and 6 mile courses. The 16 miler and 50K are reserved for runners only (just don’t expect to run the whole thing, you mortal). There will be a cut-off of 10 hours for the 50K. Aid Station #4 (16 Miles) has a cutoff of 12pm.  We reserve the right to pull anyone from the course in the event of extreme time delay or if any racers’ health looks to be at risk.

Dogs are allowed on The Hunt Trail Races BUT all dogs must be leashed AT ALL TIMES during the race and at the start/finish/after-party.  If any racers are caught with dogs off leash, they will be immediately disqualified and pulled from the course.  That being said, we hope to see you and your doggo!

Hunt Hoodies for the 50K, 16 Mile, and 6 Mile races, and Custom Hunt Camo Shirts for the 1 Mile.  Schwag cannot be guaranteed if registered after February 27th.

The start/finish of all races is located at the Cody Archery Range.
